Best skis and boots?

I want to get some awesome skis for myself and my partner for this winter. We both ski very well (we can ski anywhere with confidance), but I know nothing about equpment! He has some powder skis and wants a pair of slalom (not gs) and a pair of freestyle skis. I would like some off piste skis which make it easy and also a pair of slalom skis, which would be great for my short turns, bumps and carving! As for boots, stiff is ok but not like rock, we need to be comfortable too - any recomendations? Please don't only reccomend the most expensive, but if you really believe that is the way to go, then OK! If it helps 10 points garenteed to the best/fullest/most thought out answer!

Go for Salomon skis for both of you, if not i can reccomend the Rossi oversize. For you anything fat you will love in pow! Boots - sorry no easy answer. Got to go and try them on. Its the only way. But don't go too stiff - its usually a mistake!
Reply:invest in a few magazines and read the buyers guides. the skis are rated in different types of categories and you can get an idea of what is out there. I happen to be partial to a few brands, and i don't like bump skis in the bumps and...... you get it - personal preference. try on boots. lange for narrow - technica has wide - nordica- narrow..no reason you couldn't get a package deal set up for less cash.
Reply:I own a pair of rossignol b2s and a pair of 08 fischer wc slalom skis. The b2s are great in bumps, carve pretty well for their width, and are really smooth and easy to ski in new snow (we never get more than a few inches at a time though, if you ski a lot of powder, you might want something wider). As for slalom skis, I haven't got a chance to use my new ones yet, but I have tried atomic's sl 11s and rossignol 9s world cups. The rossignols are pretty soft for a slalom ski and they are great for short turns. The atomic sl 11s were much stiffer, but had a more powerful rebound and slightly better edge grip. Slalom skis are not very versatile though...bumps will destroy them and they tire you out if you use them all day. I'd get a freestyle ski that performs well in bumps and just use the slalom skis for carving. If you don't really need actual slalom race skis, I'd reccommend last year's volkl s5 titaniums. My friend has a pair and i've tried them...they have a tight turn radius like a slalom ski and really good edge grip, but they're a little more versatile and less demanding. Hope this helps.
Reply:I cant say much for off-piste skis because i am almost a full time racer but i can recommend the Fischer WorldCup SL model as a top of the line slalom ski. It works great through the gates and very well freeskiing with short hard turns. But keep in mind that this is a competition ski and will need to be pushed and is generally a pretty stiff ski. Skiing all day on them will definately be able to wear one out. As for boots fischer makes a race boot that is a great stiff boot and also comes in a little softer flex so you wont be hating yourself the next day and they will be much more comfortable. Both of these products are fairly expensive with 08 model skis w/ bindings running about a grand and boots close to that, but is you do some searching on the internet you can get 07 model skis for hundreds less. the skis are essentially the same except for some cosmetic differences such as the paint. Reply:Ignore anyone who recommends boots. They do not know what they are talking about. Whether they fit your foot shape is the only thing you need to worry about, and you can only work that out by trying them on.





Skis - just demo. try a few out and make up your own mind.
Reply:I have k2 public enemys and i love them! Their great for park, carving, powder, and bumps! Volkl make some pretty good carving/all mountain skis, like the Volkl wemons ativa ac3, volkl ac40 corbon, and the ac30 titanium. i personally like k2 because they make skis that can do alot of diffrent things. The k2 seth pistol is a pretty sweet ski, it can do anything like carve, powder, bumps,and mougles. or the k2 wemons skis the Nancy, Miss Conduct,or the Miss Deameanor. Volkl skis are expensive but, they make really solid and high performence skis, the volkl ac40 carbon is $998.95 . k2 are not that expensive, the public ene,mys are $450. and the sth pistols are $630. But if you want a cheaper price you can just buy the last years model of the skis i talked about for like $200 dollars cheaper and they will have the same performence. Reply:for freestyle get salomon spk boots they are really comfortable. They have very good support for harsh landings. Another pair of boots that are good are nordica supercharger ignitions .they are the most comfortable boots i have ever had. They look cool too. Lange also makes some good freestyle boots. I think they arent as good as the other two, but i tried some on and there pretty good. A lot of people have langes so they must be pretty good. All of these boots are pretty pricey though. You can get some salomon flyer freestyle boots if you dont like high prices.


For skis Line makes really good skis for park/ big mountain. I have Line prophets and they are great skis for steeps and powder. They are good for freestyle parks too. I also have some salomon spks they are very stable park skis that have great flex. Armada makes decent park skis too. If your looking for quality and a cheaper price get salomon. Graphics armada. Back country/allmountain park skis get line. I hope this will help you. Good luck skiing.
