Can anyone recommend a good European ski resort for beginners?

Hoping to go skiing in Feb 08, we're a family of 4 with 2 children (12%26amp;8). None of us have skiied before. Anyone know of somewhere thats suitable and not to pricey - or a decent travel company that will do it all - lift passes, skis, boots etc? Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a good European ski resort for beginners?
If you go with a tour company it keeps it very reasonable.

First choice have never let me down. As a family if you are willing to share a chalet then you could get a really economical deal.

For me part of the fun is meeting new people anyway and your children would probably love it.

If you take a chalet there is normally a couple who cook for you. Take this option, you might be tempted to try to save money but you wont. Its a real luxury to come back and have a meal ready for you and hardly costs anything more.

Generally a good quantity of wine is included in the price too.

There are many resorts suitable for beginners but I'd recommend Courcheval 1850 or Deux Alps.

If you book now there should still be plenty of option.

Make sure that you add everything up...Ski pass, ski hire lessons etc.

Eating on the slopes is very expensive where ever you go and can be quite crowded..

Dont assume its all included.

Have a great time...
Reply:I went snowboarding with my school back in Feb %26amp; we went to the Valle d'Aosta, Pila, Italy. It was fantastic, really good qualitiy for money. We travled by bus %26amp; it took us 29hrs from the very north of Scotland. Very child friendly, as they are working with Interski (a school snowsports company) %26amp; you can hire all equipment from the resort. I leart to snowboard in the 1st day of tuition %26amp; all my pals were the same in skiing. They have the first %26amp; only ski school.Well worth a look if i was you. Hope all goes well %26amp; have a great hol!
Reply:If you want cheap and unspoilt then go to Slovakia. I have been every year for the last four years to the same small resort, it's great. Cheap accommodation but of a high quality, Cheap excellent food and very friendly ski instructors. I've been to France and it is good but very very expensive, in the end you get almost exactly the same but at a quarter of the price. Velka Raca is a great resort for families or try the bigger and more commercial Jasna, more terrain but more queues. Oh and you can also organise everything very easily via the web.
Reply:Go to Andorra in the Pyranees. Get the Neilsens brochure from Thomas Cook travel agents, who are part of Neilsens. It is tax free and cheap and the skiing is really good for beginners as there are many English instructors. I take my children there most years - age six and nine, and they out ski me now!

Reply:I've been to Chamonix, France a few times as a novice snow boarder and thoroughly enjoyed it.

'Le tour' at he end of the valley is very good for beginners as it featuresa few long wide gently inclined runs, but there are beginners runs all the way along the valley.

oh and the apres ski is class too!
