Do you really need snow shoes or boots in order to snow ski?

There is a special bit of equipment that called "bindings" that are mounted to skis. Bindings are designed to hold your feet to the ski...a very important connection. Ski boots are designed to fit in bindings perfectly, thus transferring the motion of your legs and feet to the skis.

The bindings work with the boots to prevent injury to you also. If you fall, the bindings will sometimes "release", or allow the ski boot to come free, thus perhaps helping avoid injury to the skier.

Yes you need ski boots to ski. they are a hard plastic and they are designed to fit into your ski binding to keep the skis on your feet. plus the boots give support to your ankles and lower leg to control the ski

Reply:Yes, you do need ski boots in order to ski. They are angled specifically for downhill descents and are made to physically attach to your bindings. Without the stability they provide you would be exposed to very serious injuries to your ankle.

My personal favourite ski boot manufacturer is Salomon. I have never had any problems using their boots.
